Yesterday morning I was laying across the bed thinking about getting up 😊and I heard the Spirit say read Psalm 91. Less than a minute later the phone rang, and it was a dear friend and prayer partner who was preparing to undergo a treatment. We chatted a little, then I invited her to join me in the reading of Psalm 91. For this moment let’s focus on vs. 9- 11:
“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.”
These verses give a promise of divinely protected health. It also gives the conditions of this promise; making God your refuge. The Word heals. The Word healed us yesterday. The Word healed our spiritual ailments of fear and doubt first. Faith in God’s goodness and sovereignty is a fundamental part of our relationship with Him and this is how you make Him your refuge.
Yes, indeed the Word heals. He healed our emotional distress. We traded worry that the threats of uncertainty brought, for peace that we are safe and protected in our habitation with the Lord. Jesus came that we would have life and that more abundantly, this does not mean you acquire a lot of stuff; it means peace and joy in our Kingdom living because we trust that He reigns. Trusting God’s lordship is the pathway to walking in the Spirit.
I saw the Word heal. I was physically delivered from discomfort yesterday, and I know it was the Word! The Word has the power to transform sickness into wholeness.
Someone will be healed today as you read this! When we finished reading Psalm 91, we were able to pray in the Spirit with a heart of thanksgiving for God’s goodness. His Word is the billboard of His goodness!
“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destruction. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm 107: 19-21
